Rules for the carriage of dangerous goods (former cat. 8)
Purpose: to teach employees to recognise, store, and load consignments and passenger baggage containing dangerous goods in accordance with (former) Category 8 of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR), the service regulations of airlines, and Latvian Cabinet Regulation No. 123 on the procedure for the carriage of dangerous goods and cargo.
Training content
- Definition of dangerous goods. Legal basis of the programme.
- Classification and identification of dangerous goods. Practical exercises.
- Hazardous substance cargo processing stickers.
- Documentation for dangerous goods, their types and identification.
- Other types of markings and identification stickers.
- Hidden dangerous goods in air transport.
- Restrictions on transporting dangerous goods. Practical exercises.
- Storage and transport of dangerous goods. Loading dangerous goods on pallets or in containers in the cargo compartment of an aircraft. Practical exercises.
- Incidents with dangerous goods. Action plan in the event of an incident. The effect and impact of dangerous goods on human health and the environment.

Term of validityHaving completed the training, participants receive a certificate that is valid for 2 years.

When do I have the recurrent training?Enrolment in recurrent training is possible within the last 3 calendar months before the initial certification expires. If the employee has been absent for 6 to 12 months, they must undergo recurrent training; if absent for 12 months or more, they must undergo initial training.

Juris develops and teaches training programmes in ground handling. He has received an instructor qualification for assisting persons with disabilities and on regulations governing the carriage of dangerous goods.

Marika Kere
Marika Kere
As a Certified Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) instructor (Category 6), Marika develops and teaches training programmes covering binding procedures at the airfield, airfield maintenance, traffic management, and aircraft handling processes. She conducts professional competence tests for aircraft handling processes.
Marika has professional knowledge in the implementation of the safety management system (SMS), airfield processes, emergency management and aircraft handling gained at Airport Council International (ACI) and Ground Handling Service Provider (GHSP) training centres.
