Aviation security training at Riga Airport

The ”Aviation security training at Riga Airport” is intended for those who need to receive an individual permanent airport identification card (long-term pass) to perform work in the premises of SJSC “Riga International Airport“.

Training objective: the training is aimed at persons who require unescorted access to security restricted areas of the airport, in accordance with point 11.2.6 of EC Regulation No 2015/1998 and the internal regulations of SJSC “Riga International Airport“.

Training prerequisites:

! Please note, that the personal airport pass is issued by the Airport Pass Office with the approval of the Analytical Unit of the Security Department (including after a detailed background check).

Training takes place online via the Zoom platform. To identify the participants, the training provider may ask them to present a personal ID via private communication channels.

TRAINING CONTENT:

During the training, participants will gain a greater awareness of aviation security and learn more about airport security and the role airport staff play in ensuring aviation security measures. Participants are familiarised with various types of threats, including potential insider threats and radicalisation, as well as measures to prevent or eliminate threats. Furthermore, participants are provided with knowledge about airport identification cards and the procedure for their use, airport screening checkpoints and security screening process, and the course of action and reporting procedure for various security incidents. The information included in the training builds employee understanding of workplace security culture. A knowledge test covering the training material takes place at the end of the training.

FAQ

  • A link for connecting to the course is sent to the email address specified in the participant’s training application form. The link is sent after 14:00 on the day before the beginning of the course.
    We recommend downloading and installing Zoom software on your computer, but Zoom is also available via a web browser.
    We also recommend using a device with a stable internet connection to avoid any interruptions during the training.
    Please connect no later than 5–10 minutes before the beginning of the training and make sure that your equipment is operational, including your web camera, microphone, and headphones (or loudspeakers). Your web camera must be on for the entire duration of the training.
    If possible, choose a quiet place to avoid any disruptions from noises and people nearby.
    The training begins at the specified time: once the course begins, participants will no longer be admitted. Do not disconnect from the learning environment during the course without a good reason.
    The test at the end of the course takes place online. Access to the test is only provided via the email address specified in the application form for the training. If an unplanned disconnection from the learning environment takes place during the training, try to reconnect as soon as possible. If this is impossible due to technical reasons, contact the instructor via WhatsApp. The contact details of the instructors are sent by email along with the sign-up link. We urge course participants to be active! Active participation leads to more success in learning and makes it possible to clarify any hard-to-understand points.
  • Having completed the test, participants receive a training certificate, which is valid for 5 years.
  • Enrolment in recurrent training is possible within the last 3 calendar months before the initial certification expires.
    Recurrent training is required if the employee has been absent for at least 6 months.
    Recurrent training can also take place in pass regime or related security breaches.
    Employers are responsible for the timely assignment of their employees for training, and for compliance with the training validity periods.
