Training of aviation security personnel implementing screening

For personnel implementing screening, in accordance with European Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, subsections 11.2.3.1 (without using X-ray equipment), 11.2.3.4 and 11.2.3.5.

Training objective: train and prepare aviation security screeners to implement security controls unsupervised:

Security screening of persons and items carried with them (without using X-ray equipment),
Vehicle examinations,
Access control, surveillance and patrols.

Training prerequisites:

The participant must have a pre-employment check, according to European Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, article 11.1.5.
The participant must be fluent in the language in which training is held.

Examples of various cases and their analysis are used during the training.
The content of the training is adapted to the security processes of the specific airport if possible.
Classroom training is provided.

Training content (the training course includes confidential information)

Knowledge of legal framework for aviation security, unlawful interference with civil aviation, radicalization and the safety culture of aviation is studied during the training.
During the training, participants acquire knowledge about previous acts of unlawful interference with civil aviation, terrorist acts and current threats.
During the training, participants acquire knowledge about prohibited articles, how they can be concealed, how to respond appropriately to the detection of prohibited articles.
During the training, participants acquire knowledge and skills to carry out security screening of persons and items carried, using various security equipment (except X-ray equipment), ability to operate the security equipment used.
During the classroom training participants acquire practical training using various security equipment (except X-ray equipment), learning about capabilities and limitations of security equipment.
During the training participants will acquire interpersonal skills, how to deal with cultural differences and different religion representatives.
During the training participants will acquire knowledge about vehicle examination, including exemptions and special security procedures, as well as develop the skills needed to perform vehicle examination.
During the training, participants acquire knowledge about access control procedures, including exemptions and special security procedures, as well as skills to use airport access control systems, perform access control of persons and vehicles.
During the training participants gain understanding of the configuration of the screening checkpoints and the screening process.
During the training participants acquire knowledge of procedures for patrolling and for challenging persons and of circumstances in which persons should be challenged or reported.

FAQ

Term of validity

After successfully completing the training, participants receive a certificate, which is valid for 3 years. If recurrent training is carried out in the 3-month period before the expiration of the previous certification, then the validity period of the next recurrent training can be calculated as 3 years from the date of the previous certification.
When the recurrent training shall be repeated?

Participants can apply for recurrent training during the last 3 calendar months prior to the end of the training period. If the employee has been absent for at least 6 months – recurrent training shall be conducted.
